Self Care

Self Care

Making time to take care of yourself is important. At home care can extend the benefits of your session past the treatment time so you get the best benefit possible. There are several ways you can continue practicing self care, below are a few of our favorites that we find work best before and after your session.

Warm Shower or Bath

Warm water has many healing properties, one of which is relaxation of muscle tissue. You can help relax tension and warm up the muscles so you can stretch safer and get relief from pain. We suggest soaking in a bath, or letting the water in the shower flow onto your area of concern.

Epsom Salt & Bath Fizzies

The perfect amount of epsom salt can increase the benefits of a warm bath or shower. A Bath Fizzie is the perfect way to get the perfect amount and add a boost of moisture. Too much epsom salt can dry your skin, so make sure you add moisture to your skin afterwards if you don’t use a bath fizzie. Our favorites are from Farmhouse Fresh, you’ll want to grab 3, or more, cause you know your bestie is going to want some too!

Stretching and Yoga

Stretching can be beneficial physically and mentally. Lengthening tight muscles can reduce tension and help ease the mind and spirit. We absolutely LOVE Yoga with Adrienne! She has a natural ability to communicate with her calming grounding voice. Her bedtime videos are some of out favorites. She has a video for every focus area and time fram you can imagine. Make sure to check out her website and youtube channel for day to follow videos.

Foot Massager Ball

It may look like a dog toy, but I promise the benefits of one of these massager balls will change your life. These can be used on your feet to push on pressure points commonly focused on in reflexology sessions. It is also beneficial for releasing tension in your hands. You would be surprised by how many little muscles are in your hands and between your fingers. Relieving hand tension can help when your job includes lots of typing, working with tools, calculating, writing, and catching things as your kids drop them. Basically everyone needs a few of these! Our favorites are from amazon, we have several with various shapes to massage various size muscles.

Aromatherapy

Your body is smart, really smart. It can tie sounds and scents to feelings of calm, relaxation, and rest. We highly suggest finding a fragrance that you enjoy that helps you clear your mind, relax, and calm to use on a regular basis at home. This can be an essential oil mixed into your bath, hand cream used for a foot massage, or lotion first thing in the morning before you head to work or wake up the kids. A brief foot massage before bed with a fragrance your body ties to relaxation can help you fall asleep faster and relax your muscles for better sleep. Take home one of our hand creams, lotions, bath fizzier, or scrubs to bring the spa experience home.

Hydrate

literally everywhere you look healthcare professionals are suggesting to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. When you think you’ve drank enough H20, you can usually drink a little more. Water can help hydrate muscle tissue, skin cells, fluid pathways in your body, and boost your lymphatic system. remember, when you drink coffee, tea, or alcohol you need to drink twice the amount of water to recover and rehydrate. Drinking gatorade/powerade can be good, but remember it has sugar and sodium in it as well, and can elevate those levels in your body. You want to drink the same amount of water as sports drink to keep up your hydration and keep balanced levels of sugar and sodium in your body. Adding a slice of citrus can aid your body in releasing toxins, so feel free to throw in some in your next water bottle.
