Ready to book your first massage and not sure what to expect? Or maybe its been a while since your last massage and you want a refresher before arriving for your appointment. Here are some of our most frequently asked questions, if you want more information before booking feel free to contact us.
Where are you located?
Sacred Oasis Massage is located inside the Sola Salon Studios at the Alliance Town Center in studio #5. If you are having trouble finding Sola Salons look for Sam Moon and Platos Closet stores. If you are using a GPS we are listed on google and apple maps as “Sacred Oasis Massage” as well.
Once you enter the Sola Salons I ask that you remain in the lobby, I will meet you there when it is time to start your session. Feel free to use the restroom located in the back of the building (there is a building map right next to the large mirror on the right hand side of the lobby that can help you understand the building layout if its your first visit!)Now is also a great time to turn your electronic devices to silent, take a few deep breaths to relax, or check out the business cards on the wall to find other entrepreneurs with their own businesses at Sola.
How should I prepare for my massage?
When possible we recommend taking a warm bath or shower before you come in for your session to promote relaxation and help clear your mind. Make sure to drink plenty of water the day before and day of your session to increase hydration.
What should I wear?
Everyone’s comfort level is different, the amount of clothing you leave on during your session is completely up to you. You will be modestly draped with the sheet and blanket during the whole session. There is also a warmer in the table for temperature comfort during your treatment. Most clients feel comfortable leaving on only their underwear/boxers. Keep in mind any clothing that is left on the body is not moved during massage, those areas will be avoided during the session
Should I be concerned if I am sore after my massage?
Massage helps promote your body’s natural healing mechanisms. It is normal to feel soreness or experience symptoms of detox in the days following your massage. Make sure to drink plenty of water following your session, this helps your body in many ways. A warm bath with epsom salt may assist in reducing soreness and aches. Stretching immediately following your bath/shower will help your muscles benefit from the stretches most. Heat can relax tension so you can stretch safely and comfortably. If you are experiencing discomfort after 3 days, please reach out to us. Everyone’s body is different, and may react to the detoxifying, circulatory, and revitalizing effects of massage differently. Remember hydration is the most important thing you can do after your session.
What if I am feeling sick?
Massage therapy activates the circulatory system in our bodies. If you are experiencing fever, cough, runny nose, body aches, are feeling “under the weather”, or are getting over being ill, you will want to wait until your symptoms have completely gone away before having a massage. If you come in with any of these symptoms your appointment may be cancelled or rescheduled to later date after the side effects have completely subsided. The cancellation policy will apply in these cases.
Can I drink Alcohol before a massage?
Massage accelerates the bodies natural metabolism and circulatory processes. You want to avoid consuming alcohol or taking strong medications before massage, as it will accelerate the effects and may be hazardous to your health. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, and headache may occur when alcohol is consumed before a massage. The best thing to drink before your massage session is fresh water, even a slice of citrus can be helpful to help your body detox!
Company Policies :
Please read the following policies fully. They are the same policies that are listed in the policy acknowledgment form that you sign prior to your first appointment.
Cancellation policy :
We respectfully ask that you provide us with 48 hour notice prior to you appointment time of any schedule changes or cancellation requests. Please understand that when you cancel or miss your appointment without providing a 48 hour notice we are often unable to fill that appointment time. This is an inconvenience to your therapist and also means our other clients miss the chance to receive services they need. For this reason, you will be charged 50% of the service amount for appointments cancelled less then 48 hours prior, and 100% for session cancelled in less than 24 hours prior to the appointment time. We reserve the right to require a credit card number to book appointments so that appropriate fees may be charged if a late cancellation does occur.
We understand that emergencies can arise and illnesses do occur at inopportune times. If you have a fever, a known infection, or have experienced vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours prior to your appointment time, we request that you cancel your session. Inclement weather may also result in the need for late cancellations. We will do our best to give advanced notice if we are closing or need to cancel due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances and we ask you to do the same. Please do not risk your own safety trying to make your appointment. Late cancellation due to emergency, illness, or inclement weather will generally not result in any missed session charges, but this is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Late Arrival Policy :
We request that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time to fill out any required paperwork as well as answer any intake questions your therapist may have. We understand that issues can arise that may cause you to be late for your appointment. However, we ask that you inform us if this ever occurs so we can do our best to accommodate you. Appointment times are reserved for each client, so oftentimes we cannot exceed that reserved time without making the next client late. For this reason, arriving after your appointment time may result in loss of time from your massage so that your session ends at the scheduled time. Full service fees will be charged even when sessions are shortened due to late arrival. In return we will do our best to be on time, and if we are unable to do so we will add time to your session to make up for our late arrival.
If it is 10 minutes past the start time of your appointment and I have not heard from you, or you will not arrive within 10 minutes of the start time of your appointment it is considered a “no show” and the appropriate “cancellation/no show” fee(s) will apply to cover for the reserved appointment time.
Inappropriate Behavior Policy :
Massage therapy is for relaxation and therapeutic purposes only. There is absolutely no sexual component to massage whatsoever.
Any insinuation, joke, gesture, conversation, or request otherwise will result in immediate termination of your session, a refusal of any and all services in the future, and a report to be filled with the appropriate law enforcement office(s) .
You will be charged a $500 IBP Fee, the full service fee, plus 50% gratuity regardless of the length of your session.
Treat your therapist with respect and dignity and you will be treated the same in return.
